How to find the best insurance quotes

Car insurance is one of the things that people tend to work hard on to make sure that they get a good quote. We have all heard the advice before that there can be hundreds of pounds to be saved if you buy your car insurance carefully, and that is not money to be sniffed at!

The first tip is to make sure you buy online. The online market place is by far the cheapest place to find insurance quotes, and some of the bigger companies even offer discounts just for buying insurance online! A lot of people swear by the comparison sites, but it is worth remembering that they do not include results from all of the insurance companies. They are a great tool for getting quite a lot of results back, but if you are really serious about finding the cheapest and the best quotes, then you need to look a little bit more deeply into the possibility of finding a great quote.

Another thing to remember is that a lot of the larger insurance companies cannot be found on the price comparison sites. They do not want to subscribe to the costs associated with these sites and they obviously have enough confidence in their buyers finding them on the net, so it is up to you to do the same! You will find that a lot of the major insurance companies are the cheapest, their large size allowing them to offer very competitive prices. One company who is renowned for offering excellent quotes is Hastings. To find out more about what they can offer you, Visit the site now.

How to spot a great second hand car

Buying second hand cars always involves some sort of a risk, but when you consider that you can purchase a warranty on a second hand car for just a fraction of your purchase cost, the risks are not too great. There are some things however, that you can look out for when buying second hand Motors.

firstly of all you should always check the bodywork thoroughly. If you see lots of sings of rust then this could be something that will be quite expensive to deal with when it comes to the MOT. You can also try to check for any problems with the head gasket, because this can be the route of a fault which can often cost close to a thousand pounds to fix. The problem with a warped or cracked head gasket is that it is particularly difficult for mechanics to get to the part of the engine to replace it, and labour costs can be prohibitive.

Cars often still run for a while with a head gasket problem, so it is obviously something to watch out for. If you see the revs peaking and troughing at all, or if you notice any moisture coming out of the exhaust pipe when the accelerator is depressed then these could be signs. You can also take the cap off the expansion tank and if this doesn’t seem to be holding any pressure then this could also indicate a problem.

A lot of these problems can be false alarms though, and by far the best thing to do is to take along with you a mechanic or someone who knows their way around an engine of a car. Good luck with your search, and remember that most cars out there are in fine condition!
